a fun versatile kid-safe recipe

By Sara L Kunkel, Publisher/Editor Mac Kid Mt Carmel-Schuylkill-Pottsville June 29, 2017

My son and I finally caved into the slime craze going on right now & we had a lot of fun making fluffy slime with a few simple ingredients. Start to finish, it only takes about 10 minutes and lasts a long time.

I've found it's a very relaxing sensory experience as a mommy, too!

FLUFFY SLIME:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 bottle school glue
  • 4 cups shaving foam
  • food coloring
  • 1 tbsp contact/saline solution (I used whatever was cheapest/most cost effective)
  • vegetable oil or cooking spray (baby oil or any type of other oil would probably work also)

Also need:    1 large bowl, 1 large spoon

STEPS:

  1.  Empty entire contents of (1) bottle school glue into a large bowl.
  2. Stir in a few drops of food coloring of your choice.
  3. Add 3 or 4 cups of shaving foam and stir.
  4. Add 1 tbsp saline solution and start stirring.
  5. Stir continuously until the ingredients are well-combined and it starts to thicken into a firmer texture.
  6. Coat hands with oil and knead slime until it reaches desired consistency and is not as sticky.
  7. Let stand 3-5 minutes to firm up a bit more.  If still sticky, use more oil.
  8. Store in an airtight container or zip top baggie when not in use.  May become a little wet during storage.
