On Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. ZooAmerica once again will visit Sweet Arrow Lake County Park to present Native Pennsylvania Species. Pennsylvania's common and uncommon wildlife species of our forests, fields and towns will be presented in this program. Live animals will be included in this program. Wildly popular, this event will be held outdoors at the Clubhouse Pavilion. Those attending are asked to bring lawn chairs. The rain date will be May 24th at 7:00 p.m. This program is free and open to the public and is made possible with the help of a grant from the Schuylkill Area Community Foundation. Sweet Arrow Lake Canoe and Kayak Rental Concession
Boat rentals at Sweet Arrow Lake County Park will open Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the canoe launch near the clubhouse on Memorial Day weekend. Canoes, kayaks and rowboats will be available at $10.00/hour, $17.00 for two hours, $25.00 for 3 hours, $40.00 for 4 hours. Canoes and rowboats seat up to people, kayaks seat one person. PFDs and paddles are supplied. Watercraft will be available on a first come, first served basis only on May 27, 28, 29, July 4 and September 4. Rental times are 11:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. Other times and days may be available by appointment. For boat rental information call 570-345-8952 during the week and leave a message. On weekends after 11:00 a.m. call 570-345-3537. For group information call 570-345-8952. The last rental takes place at 6:00 p.m. All boats must be returned by 7:00 p.m. Rentals will take place only if weather and lake conditions permit and staff is available. Disc golf rentals also are available at the same location and hours as boat rentals. The $20.00 deposit for disc golf will be returned when 3 discs are turned in.
 
New Philadelphia Trout Rodeo
A fishing rodeo will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the New Philadelphia Community Park near the Little League Field. The event will take place at the Trout Habitat Enhancement Project on the Schuylkill River in New Philadelphia Borough. Children ages 1-15 may fish for free from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon and adults may fish from 1:30-4:00 p.m. for a donation of $10.00. The trout rodeo is being sponsored by the New Philadelphia Community Organization, New Philadelphia Borough Officials and Schuylkill County Chapter Trout Unlimited.
